How to Use AI to Write Product Descriptions and Content

Summary

Overview: Besides the Max AI chat, your dashboard has Generate with AI buttons that write content for you right where you need it: product descriptions, SEO meta tags for products, blog posts and pages, an aesthetic direction for your store's look, store logos, and AI image edits in the Media Library. Each one uses AI Credits. You always review the result, and you can edit it before you save.

Prerequisites:

  • A store on the Launch, Grow, Scale or Premium Trial plan.
  • AI Credits in your balance. See How to Check Your AI Credit Usage.
  • Store owner access for product descriptions, product SEO, logos and image editing.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Write a product description with Max

  1. In the sidebar, click Products, then Inventory. Open a product, or add a new one.
  2. Type the Product Title first. Max uses it, along with the brand, category, short description and tags you've already filled in.
  3. In the Product Description section, click Generate with AI. A panel titled Max — Generate Product Description opens on the right.
  4. Max greets you and asks one short question, for example about the tone or audience you have in mind. Either:
    • click Generate Now, or
    • type your preferences in Type something specific (optional)… and press Enter. Max may reply once before it generates.
  5. Max shows Here are two options — click one to apply it directly to your product. Each card, Option A and Option B, is marked AI Generated and shows a short and a long description.
  6. Click the card you like. The panel closes and the text fills in Short Description and Long Description. It replaces anything already in those fields.
  7. Edit the text if you want, then save the product as usual.

If you close the panel before choosing a card, your conversation is kept. Click Generate with AI again to continue where you left off.

Step 2: Write product SEO meta tags with Max

  1. On the same product page, scroll to Search Engine Optimization.
  2. Make sure Product Title and Brand are filled in.
  3. Next to Describe what the page is about., click Generate with AI. A panel titled Max — Generate SEO Meta Tags opens.
  4. Answer Max's question about keywords or audience, or click Generate Now.
  5. Click one of the two option cards. Each card shows the meta title and meta description with a character count (out of 70 and 170), plus suggested keywords.
  6. The card fills What's the page title for search engines?, Describe what the page is about. and Keywords. Check the Search Engine Listing Preview, edit if needed, and save the product.

Step 3: Write SEO meta tags for a blog post or page

The same form works for blog posts (Marketing → Blogs) and for pages in Page Builder.

  1. Open the blog post or page and go to its Search Engine Optimization settings. On a page, choose the Google, Facebook or Twitter tab.
  2. Click Generate with AI next to the meta title. The Generate SEO Meta Tags form opens.
  3. Fill in every field marked with a red asterisk:
    • Blog Title (or Page Title), up to 150 characters
    • Who is the target audience?, up to 50 characters
    • What keywords should be included?: add 1 to 3 keywords
    • Describe the value proposition(s) of the message that you're trying to communicate.
    • Select the tone of voice.: Professional, Casual or Friendly
  4. Click Generate Meta Tags.
  5. Under SEO Meta Tags Suggestions, click Option A or Option B.
  6. To get a new version of the option you selected, click Generate New. The other option stays the same.
  7. Click Apply. The meta title and meta description are filled in, and your keywords are added to the keywords you already have. On a page, the title and description are copied to all three tabs when you generate from Google.
  8. Save the blog post or page.

Step 4: Start a blog post with AI

  1. In the sidebar, click Marketing, then Blogs.
  2. Click Create a Blog.
  3. In Create a Blog Post, click Generate with AI under the AI card (AI-Powered Blog Generator, AI-Powered Image Generator, SEO Meta Tags Generator).
  4. Max AI opens with the Blog Writer ready. Follow Max's prompts to write the post. See How to Get Started with Max AI.

To write the post yourself instead, click Create from Scratch.

Step 5: Generate your store logo

  1. In the sidebar, click Page Builder, then Design Settings.
  2. On the Store Information tab, make sure your store name, slogan and industry are filled in.
  3. Open the Store Branding tab and click the Generate with AI card (Let AI create professional logos for you). If you already chose an option before, click the Generate with AI button next to Store Logo & Favicon first.
  4. In Max AI Logo Generator, answer the questions: layout style (Vertical or Horizontal), design style, primary color, up to 2 secondary colors, accent colors, preferred fonts (optional, or click Skip this question) and Timeless or Trendy.
  5. Max shows Here's your AI-generated logo! in two versions: With Background and Transparent.
  6. Optional:
    • Click Regenerate for a new version. You can regenerate up to 2 times per logo (Regenerations used: X of 2).
    • Click Generate Logo Assets to also get a Wordmark and a Favicon.
  7. Click Apply Logo (or Apply Logo & Favicon).
  8. Click Save. You see Successfully updated Store Branding.

During setup with Max AI, the logo step also has a Generate with Max option. You pick a Style (Minimal, Playful, Elegant or Bold) and a Main color, then click Generate logo or Generate another. Step 6: Generate an aesthetic direction for Max AI pages

The aesthetic direction is one or two sentences that describe your store's look. Max AI matches it on every page it builds.

  1. Open AI Studio and click Colors & Styles. See How to Use AI Studio.
  2. Set your colors and fonts first. The sentence is written from what's on the form right now, plus your brand personality if Max AI knows it.
  3. Under Max AI Theme, next to Aesthetic direction, click Generate with Max AI. The button shows Generating... while it works.
  4. The sentence appears in the Aesthetic direction box. Edit it if you like, then click Save.

Step 7: Edit images with AI in the Media Library

  1. In the sidebar, click Media Library.
  2. Open the menu on an image and click Edit.
  3. In Edit Image, click Edit with AI.
  4. Choose a tab:
    • Magic Eraser: removes the background. The result is saved as a new image in your library automatically.
    • Enhance: click Image Quality, or click Lighting, pick a lighting style and click Apply Lighting.
    • Background: choose a color, upload your own background, or describe one under Describe the background you want. and click Generate with AI.
  5. Review the preview and click Save. Click Reset to go back to the original.

Verify It Worked

Success criteria:

  • Product description: Short Description and Long Description show the option you chose.
  • Product SEO: the Search Engine Listing Preview shows the new meta title and description.
  • Blog or page SEO: the meta title, meta description and keywords are filled in after Apply.
  • Logo: you see Successfully updated Store Branding. and the new logo in the preview.
  • Aesthetic direction: the box holds the new sentence after you save.
  • Images: the edited image appears in the Media Library.
  • Your AI Credits balance goes down a little after each generation.

Troubleshooting

Common errors

  • "Product title is required": type the Product Title before clicking Generate with AI.
  • "Brand is required": product SEO needs a Brand. Fill it in and try again.
  • Insufficient AI Credits window (Top up now to access all AI features and continue boosting your productivity.): your balance is too low. Click Top Up Now. See How to Buy AI Credits.
  • "Insufficient AI credits. Top up at least [number]." or "You have no AI credits.": your balance is below the minimum needed to start. Top up, or wait for your monthly credits to refresh.
  • "You're out of AI credits. Top up your credits to generate a logo.": top up before generating a logo during setup.
  • "Please complete store name, slogan, and industry to generate AI logo.": fill these in on the Store Information tab of Design Settings.
  • "Please fill in the following required fields: ...": fill in every field in the Generate SEO Meta Tags form.
  • "Please add at least 1 keyword." or "Maximum 3 keywords allowed.": add 1 to 3 keywords.
  • "No meta tag options were generated. Please try again.": click Generate Meta Tags again.
  • "Meta title exceeds 70 characters" or "Meta description exceeds 170 characters": the text was still filled in. Shorten it before you save.
  • "Maximum regeneration limit reached (2). Please modify your preferences and regenerate.": you've used both regenerations for this logo. Change your answers and generate again.
  • "Max couldn't finish the logo (nothing was billed). Please try again.": try again. You weren't charged.
  • "Connection error. Please try again." or "Something went wrong. Please try again." in the Max panel: close the panel and click Generate with AI again.
  • I don't see Generate with AI on the product page: only the store owner sees the product description and product SEO buttons.
  • I don't see Edit with AI or the logo generator: these are for the store owner only.

Limitations & considerations

  • AI writes a draft. Always check facts, prices and claims before you publish.
  • The amount of credits each generation uses depends on how much work the AI does, so it varies.
  • Some tools need a minimum balance before they start, even if they end up using less. For example: logo 25, logo assets 30, Magic Eraser 7, Image Quality 52, Lighting and AI background 14, blog or page SEO meta tags 16.
  • Choosing a product description card replaces what's already in Short Description and Long Description.
  • Nothing is saved to your product, blog post or page until you save it.
