Summary

Overview: The Senior/PWD Discount is a free add-on for Philippine stores. Turn it on, choose which products it covers and how the 20% is counted, and approved customers get 20% off plus VAT exemption automatically at checkout.

Prerequisites:

  • A Philippine store on the Launch, Grow, Scale or Premium Trial plan. The add-on is hidden for US stores.
  • Store owner access, or a team member with Store settings & administration access.
  • Published products. See How to Add Your First Product.
  • For the Senior's share option: your products' Good for (pax) values. Step 4 explains these.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Turn on the free add-on

  1. In the sidebar, click Marketplace.
  2. On the All tab, click Learn More on the Senior/PWD Discount card. Its price shows as FREE.
  3. Read the Overview, then click Activate.
  4. You see Senior/PWD Discount activated. and Prosperna opens the Senior/PWD discount setup for you.

If you come back to the app later, the button reads Set up in Discounts instead.

You can also turn it on from Marketing → Discounts → Create Discount: the Senior/PWD tile shows a Free add-on badge and its own Activate button.

Step 2: Choose which products the discount covers

On the Create discount page, with the Senior/PWD tile selected:

  1. Under Applies to (Which products get the Senior/PWD discount.), open Products or categories and choose:
    • All Products
    • Specific Categories, then pick one or more in Select Categories.
    • Specific Products, then pick one or more in Select Products.

Step 3: Choose how the 20% is counted

Under How the 20% is counted, pick one:

Option What it does Best for
One item per order The most expensive eligible item, one piece. Restaurants serving single meals
Senior's share The order is divided by the number of people eating. Uses Good for (pax) on products. Shared platters and group meals
All eligible items Every eligible item, all quantities. Pharmacies and groceries

Step 4: Set the VAT option and accept responsibility

  1. Leave My prices include 12% VAT switched on if your store is VAT registered and your product prices already include VAT. Prosperna then removes the VAT first and takes 20% off the remainder, so ₱280 becomes ₱200. Switch it off if your prices do not include VAT; the customer then simply gets 20% off.
  2. Read the Note and tick I understand. Prosperna provides the tools but does not verify customer eligibility: checking Senior Citizen and PWD IDs stays your responsibility.
  3. Click Save Senior/PWD discount. You see Senior/PWD discount saved.

When you come back to change the settings, the button reads Save changes.

Step 5: Set Good for (pax) on your products (Senior's share only)

If you chose Senior's share, tell Prosperna how many people each item feeds:

  1. Go to Products and open a product.
  2. Find the Senior/PWD section. It only appears while the add-on is on.
  3. Set Good for (pax): how many people this item usually feeds, like a platter for 4. Single meals stay at 1. The lowest is 1 and the highest is 50.
  4. The grey box below tells you whether this product is covered by your Senior/PWD discount, and Edit in Discounts takes you back to the settings.
  5. Save the product.

There is no on/off switch per product. Whether a product gets the discount is decided only by Applies to in Step 2.

Step 6: Check the Discounts page

Go to Marketing → Discounts. A Senior/PWD Discount row is pinned above the discount table with the SC/PWD badge. It shows:

  • Active with a summary (for example Automatic for approved customers · One item per order · All products) once it is set up.
  • Setup needed and Activated. Finish setting it up to apply it at checkout. if you have not saved the form yet. Click Set up to finish.

Click Edit on that row whenever you want to change the settings.

Verify It Worked

Success criteria:

  • You saw Senior/PWD discount saved.
  • On Marketing → Discounts, the pinned Senior/PWD Discount row shows the green Active badge and your chosen option.
  • On your online store, a logged-in customer with an approved ID sees the Senior Citizen / PWD discount box at checkout, and the discount shows in the order summary.

Troubleshooting

Common errors

  • "Choose how the 20% is counted.": pick one of the three options under How the 20% is counted.
  • "Select at least one category." or "Select at least one product.": you chose Specific Categories or Specific Products but picked none.
  • "Please confirm that you are responsible for approving IDs.": tick I understand under the Note before saving.
  • "Upgrade your plan to activate this app.": the add-on is not available on the Free plan. See How to Choose a Prosperna Plan.
  • "Available for Philippine stores only." under the Activate button: the discount is a Philippine statutory discount and is not offered for US stores.
  • The Senior/PWD tile is missing on Create discount: your store's region is not the Philippines, or the add-on was never activated.

Limitations & considerations

  • There is only one Senior/PWD discount per store. It is not a coupon code and it has no start or end date; it applies as long as it is set up.
  • A product line gets either the statutory discount or a coupon discount, whichever is better for the customer, never both.
  • Only customers who are logged in and whose ID you approved get the discount. See How to Review Senior Citizen and PWD IDs.
  • With Senior's share, the customer may raise the number of people sharing the order at checkout but never lower it below what the items imply.
  • The highest number of people an order can be shared between is 50.
  • Products that are unpublished or missing are never covered.
  • Each order's discount is shown on the order details and in the order emails as its own line with the ID name and number, so you have the record the law requires.
