Summary

Overview: Your online store is your main sales channel. Every store has its own web address (for example yourstore.prosperna.com, or your own domain if you've connected one) that you can share on social media, in chats and on printed materials. This article shows how to find and preview your store link, how to temporarily close your store for holidays or breaks, and what customers see when you have more than one store location.

Prerequisites:

  • A store on the Launch, Grow, Scale or free trial plan.
  • Store owner access, or a team member with Store settings & administration access.
  • To take orders from the link: checkout turned on (see How to Turn On Checkout for Your Store) and at least one published product.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Find and preview your store link

  1. In the top bar of your dashboard, click the Preview Online Store icon (the arrow-out-of-box icon; hover over it to see the label).
  2. Your store opens in a new browser tab. If you've connected your own domain and set it as your main address, it opens at that domain. Otherwise it opens at your .prosperna.com address.
  3. Copy the address from your browser's address bar. This is the link you share with customers.

To change your .prosperna.com address or connect your own domain, see How to Connect Your Own Domain.

Step 2: Make your link look good when shared

When you paste your link into social media or a chat app, the preview uses your store's name, description and images.

  1. In the sidebar, click Page Builder, then Design Settings.
  2. Fill in Store Description (up to 150 characters). This text is used as your store's description in search results and social media previews.
  3. Save your changes.

Step 3: Temporarily close your store (optional)

Use Temporarily Close when you're on a break or holiday. Customers can still browse, but can't check out physical products while the store is closed.

  1. In the sidebar, click Settings, then Store.
  2. Scroll to Temporarily Close. The table lists each store location with its Store Name, store hours, Custom Date, Status and Actions.
  3. On the location's row, click Set Date & Time (or click the ... menu and choose Edit). The Edit Closing Schedule Details page opens.
  4. Under Text, type the banner message customers will see (up to 200 characters), for example We're closed for the holidays. See you on January 3!
  5. Under Set Schedule, choose Close From and Close To dates and times, then click Add Custom Date. The period appears under Close Dates. Repeat for more periods.
  6. To remove a period, click the delete icon on its row.
  7. Click Save. You see Temporary close details successfully updated.
  8. Back on Settings → Store, switch the location's Status on. The schedule only applies while Status is on.

To see every closing period for a location, click View all under its dates, or View in the ... menu.

Step 4: Understand how customers choose a location (multiple locations)

If you have more than one store location, customers pick the location they want to order from:

  • If you chose Require consumers to select a store location prior to viewing the homepage or product list. (in Settings → Store → Store Locations), customers who open your link go first to the Select Store Location page.
  • Otherwise, customers start browsing right away and can switch locations from the store's top navigation bar, where See All Locations opens the same page.

On the Select Store Location page, customers can search by store name, address, city, province or postal code, see each location's Store Hours and whether it's Open or Closed, and click Continue to shop from that location. Their choice is remembered on that device.

See How to Add Your Store Location to set this up.

Verify It Worked

Success criteria:

  • Clicking Preview Online Store opens your store in a new tab.
  • During a closing period (with Status on), your store shows your banner text, and customers who try to check out physical products see a Store Closed message telling them when the store reopens.
  • With the "require" option on, opening your link in a private browser window takes you to Select Store Location first.

Troubleshooting

Common errors

  • "Please select both Close From and Close To": fill in both dates and times before clicking Add Custom Date.
  • "Close From must be before Close To": the start must be earlier than the end.
  • An Upgrade window opens when you click Set Date & Time or the Status switch: Temporarily Close needs a paid plan or an active free trial.
  • My banner isn't showing: check that the location's Status switch is on, that the current time falls inside a closing period you added, and that you typed banner Text.
  • Customers see "Store Closed" outside my closing dates: while Status is on, the store also counts as closed outside the location's store hours. Check the location's store hours, or switch Status off.

Limitations & considerations

  • Temporarily Close is set per store location.
  • Only physical products are blocked. Customers can still buy digital products while the store is closed.
  • Changes to closing periods only take effect after you click Save.
  • The location choice on the Select Store Location page is saved in the customer's browser, so customers on a new device or browser choose again.
