How to Customize Product Listing and Search

Summary

Overview: Three Store Settings sections control how products look in your online store. Search Bar sets how search results appear. Product Listing sets which layouts customers can use on your product list and which one they see first. Product Pages lets you hide size and weight on every product page.

Prerequisites:

  • Products published in your store. See How to Add Your First Product.
  • For Menu View: the Menu View app activated in Marketplace.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Choose how search results look

  1. In the left sidebar, go to Settings → Store.
  2. In the Store Settings menu, click Search Bar.
  3. Under Choose how your products appear in the search bar results page:, pick one:
    • Show Product Listing Search Results: products in the results are shown in your Product Listing format. Other results are shown as text.
    • Show Text Results Only: products are shown as text with a thumbnail. Other results are also shown as text.
  4. Click Save.

Step 2: Choose your product list layouts

  1. In the Store Settings menu, click Product Listing.
  2. Under Select a Layout, switch on each layout customers can use:
    • Grid View: products in a 4-column grid.
    • List View: products in a single column.
    • Menu View: products in 2 columns with infinite scrolling. A crown icon means it's locked (see below).
  3. Under Set the Default Layout of the Product Listing Page, choose the layout customers see first. You can only pick a layout that is switched on.
  4. Click Save. You see a message like Successfully updated grid view.

To unlock Menu View: click its switch. If your plan doesn't include it, you're taken to your plan page to upgrade. If the Menu View app isn't activated, you're taken to its Marketplace page to activate it. Then come back and switch it on.

Step 3: Hide size and weight on product pages (optional)

  1. In the Store Settings menu, click Product Pages.
  2. Switch on Hide Product Size and Weight to remove size and weight information from all product pages.
  3. Click Save.

Verify It Worked

Success criteria:

  • After you reload Settings → Store, your choices are still selected.
  • Your product list opens in the default layout you chose, and customers can switch to the other layouts you turned on.
  • Search results in your store match the option you picked.
  • With Hide Product Size and Weight on, product pages no longer show size and weight.

Troubleshooting

Common errors

  • "Enable at least one.": all three layouts are switched off. Switch on at least one. Save stays greyed out until you do.
  • "*Required" under the default layout: the layout you had as default was switched off. Choose a new default.
  • The Menu View switch doesn't move: the Menu View app isn't activated, or your plan doesn't include it. Click the switch to go to the right page.
  • An upgrade window opens in Product Pages: your plan doesn't include this setting. See How to Choose a Prosperna Plan.

Limitations & considerations

  • Hide Product Size and Weight applies to all products. You can't hide them for only some products here.
