Do AI Credits Expire?

Summary

Overview: Your store has two kinds of AI Credits. Monthly AI Credits come with your plan and reset every month, so any you don't use are lost at the reset. Topped-up credits (credits you buy) have no expiry date and stay in your balance until you use them. Monthly credits are always used first.

Prerequisites:

  • A Launch, Grow, Scale or Premium Trial plan.
  • Access to Billing to check your balance. See How to Check Your AI Credit Usage.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Check your two balances

  1. Click your name or profile picture at the top right, then Billing.
  2. Click the Credits tab.
  3. Under AI Credits:
    • Monthly AI Credits shows the credits left this month (for example 80/100 Credits available) and the date they reset, under Refreshes on.
    • Total AI Credits Balance is your monthly credits plus your topped-up credits. Hover over the number to see Monthly AI Credits and Topped-up Credits separately.

Step 2: Know what happens to monthly credits

  • On the Refreshes on date, your monthly credits go back to your plan's full amount: 100 on Launch, 200 on Grow, and 400 on Scale and the Premium Trial.
  • Unused monthly credits don't carry over. If you used 30 of 100, you start the next month with 100, not 170.
  • When you change plans, your monthly amount becomes the new plan's amount.

Step 3: Know what happens to credits you buy

  • Topped-up credits don't expire. They have no end date and aren't reset on the Refreshes on date.
  • They're used only after your monthly credits for the month run out.
  • Changing your plan doesn't remove them.
  • While your store is on the Free plan or suspended (for example after your trial ends or a cancelled plan reaches its end date), they can't be used and show as 0. They aren't deleted: they come back when you subscribe to a plan again.

Step 4: Know the order credits are used in

  1. Each AI task uses your Monthly AI Credits first.
  2. When those run out, it uses your topped-up credits.
  3. If one task costs more than everything you have left, it can still finish. The extra is taken from your next monthly credits when they refresh.
  4. When your total balance reaches 0, AI features won't start until you top up or your monthly credits refresh.

Verify It Worked

Success criteria:

  • After the Refreshes on date, Monthly AI Credits shows your plan's full amount again.
  • Your Topped-up Credits (hover over Total AI Credits Balance) stay the same until you use them.

Troubleshooting

Common errors

  • "You have no AI credits.": your monthly and topped-up credits are both used up. Top up, or wait for Refreshes on. See How to Buy AI Credits.
  • My topped-up credits show 0 after my plan ended: your store is on the Free plan or suspended. Subscribe again to use them. See What Happens When Your Free Trial Ends.
  • My monthly credits are lower than my plan's amount right after the refresh: a task last month cost more than you had left, and the extra was taken from this month's credits (Step 4).
  • There's no Credits tab: your store is on the Free plan or suspended. See How to Choose a Prosperna Plan.

Limitations & considerations

  • Bought AI Credits are non-refundable. When you buy them you agree that once the amount is topped up and converted to credits, it cannot be reversed or withdrawn as cash or any other monetary form.
  • Credits can only be used on the Prosperna account that bought them.
  • AI Credits and Shipping Credits are separate. This article is about AI Credits only.
