Summary

Overview: The Copywriter agent in Max AI is your blog writing partner. It suggests topics, builds outlines and drafts full blog posts in your store's voice. Posts open in the Blog Writer panel, where you can edit the text and SEO settings, then save a draft, publish now or schedule the post.

Prerequisites:

  • Max AI set up and AI Credits in your balance. See How to Get Started with Max AI.
  • The Blogs app activated in Marketplace. Copywriter only shows when it is.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Open the Copywriter agent

  1. In the sidebar, click Max AI.
  2. On Choose who you want to work with to get started., click Start chatting on the Copywriter card. If you're already in a chat, click the agent button in the message box and choose Copywriter.

You can also start from your Blogs page: click Create a Blog, then choose Generate with AI. Copywriter opens with the Blog Writer ready.

Step 2: Start from a card or your own request

The message box asks What are we writing today? Under Tools & Capabilities, click a card to fill the message box, change it if you like, then press Enter.

Card Request it fills in
Blog topic ideas Give me 5 blog topic ideas for my store.
Blog outline Create a blog outline I can use for my next post.
Write a blog post Help me write a blog post, please open blog writer widget.

Tell Max what the post is about, who it's for and the tone you want. To build on a post you already have, type @blogs and pick it.

Step 3: Review the post in the Blog Writer

Max opens the Blog Writer panel next to the chat. While it works, one line next to Max's picture tells you what Max is doing. It starts at Reading your message and changes every couple of seconds — Thinking it through, Looking at your store, Checking what you asked for, Working out the best answer, Putting it together — until the first step starts. After that the line names the step in plain words, for example Researching your topic, and a list of the steps opens under it. When the answer is finished, the list folds to one line, for example Researched your topic · 3 steps · 12 s. Click that line to open it again. If Max explains its thinking, Why Max did this sits inside the list, closed until you click it. Max then fills in the Title, content, Keyword, Meta Title and Meta Description.

  1. Edit the Title (up to 100 characters) and the text. Use the editor's image button to add images from your Media Library. Click Expand Editor for a bigger writing space, and Back to Blog Writer to return.
  2. Keep chatting to change the post, for example Make the intro shorter or Add a section about shipping. Max sees your edits.
  3. In Search Engine Optimization, check Meta Title, Meta Description, Keyword (required) and Slug, and add a Featured Image (at least 250×250 pixels). Click Generate with AI there to get meta tag suggestions.
  4. Under Categories, choose a category or click Add Category.

Press Esc while Max is writing to stop it. Under a finished answer you get Copy (it shows Copied), Good answer (thumbs up) and Bad answer (thumbs down). The newest answer also has Retry, but only when it answers a question you typed yourself.

Step 4: Save, publish or schedule

At the bottom of the Blog Writer:

  • Save as Draft: keeps the post as a draft. Visitors don't see it.
  • Publish: puts the post live on your blog now.
  • Schedule (from the arrow next to Publish): pick Tomorrow Morning (9:00 AM), Tomorrow Afternoon (1:00 PM), Next Week (Mon, 9:00 AM) or Pick date & time, then click Done and Schedule.

After you save, the panel closes and the chat confirms that the post was saved as a draft or published. To edit the post later, open it from your Blogs page. See How to Write Blog Posts.

Verify It Worked

Success criteria:

  • The chat says your blog post has been saved as draft successfully or has been published successfully.
  • The post appears on your Blogs page, as a draft or published.

Troubleshooting

Common errors

  • I can't see Copywriter: activate the Blogs app in Marketplace, then reopen Max AI.
  • "Please complete all the required fields.": add a Title and content.
  • "Please complete all the required SEO fields.": add the Keyword and any other required SEO field.
  • "Something went wrong with creating a blog post.": try again. If it keeps failing, save it as a draft and try publishing from the Blogs page.
  • I can't switch to another agent: the Blog Writer has unsaved work. Save it, or click Cancel and Confirm to leave the Blog Writer.
  • "You’re out of AI credits.": buy more credits. See How to Buy AI Credits.

Limitations & considerations

  • Each Max agent only does its own work. Ask Copywriter for something another agent handles and Max shows a card above the message box, for example Switch to Max Insights to answer this?, with Approve and Decline (press Enter to approve or Esc to decline). Approve moves the chat to that agent, the agent button in the message box moves with it, and that agent answers your question straight away — which uses AI Credits like any other answer. Decline leaves you where you are and Max replies Okay, we stay in Max Copywriter.
  • The Blog Writer in Max AI always creates a new post. To change a post that's already saved, edit it from the Blogs page.
  • The Advanced and Schema SEO tabs are for the Scale plan and the free trial.
  • Asking Max to write or rewrite uses AI Credits.
